Dali Castro

Editing, writing

Growing up in Manila, Dali Castro wanted to be a prima ballerina. Well, that and/or work in an African wildlife reserve. Several years—and reality checks—later, she turned to yet another, more compelling childhood passion, writing, and obtained a degree in mass communication, majoring in journalism.

Then, in mid-1973, as luck—or destiny—would have it, Dali, on an impulse, dropped by the Canadian embassy in Manila, applied for a visa and, within six months, received it—moving to Canada in spring 1974.

Dali landed her first job at a Toronto daily newspaper, later working as a full-time editor on four national magazines. In 1994, she started freelancing and has since built an extensive and diverse clientele, working on a wide variety of topics, including travel, art, business and lifestyle.
